What are the Possible Remedies for Back Pain?

Back pain has now-a-days got the label of most common problem. Not only the older people facing this problem but young generation also. In back pain a twinge is felt at the back originating from vertebrae structure such as nerves and bones. It might make you feel a piercing sensation or the dull ache. This kind of pain results due to day-to-day activities at home or at work. Such activities may include lifting, over stretching, pushing or pulling wrongly. Even the common aging processes and the wrong sitting posture can cause pain. In pregnant women lower back pain is really common. This pain can also occur if you carry heavy loads and are forced to stand for long.

But this problem is something that should be taken care of otherwise the situation can get worse and the pain can become chronic leading to something more serious. The acute pain bothers you for few days but the chronic one can be extended for months. So, to deal with the problem effectively, you need to understand first whether the pain is acute or chronic.

Some remedies to relieve back pain:

In most of the cases, it is easy to handle acute pains. Most of the people manage it themselves. Others go for painkillers for reducing the pain. There is no prescription required by the doctor, one common painkiller is paracetamol. This is the most elective medicine for back pain. Those who don’t find it effective can go for ibuprofen which is non-steroidal and anti-inflammatory however, if the pain continues then you should see a doctor and get prescribed mild opiate based painkillers for example, codeine

For severe pain, go for Diazepam that relaxes muscles and has very high addiction rates. Take it only if prescribed by the doctor; it should not be taken for more than seven days. The reason is its addictive nature; it is very strong and cause drowsiness. Patients taking Diazepam need to take lots of rest. But remember to balance the rest with work as too much of rest slows down the rate of recovery. In some instances, it can lead to pain. The exercises like walking, swimming and stretching gently that are less strenuous can help you during recovery.

For severe pain, doctors also prescribe Vicodin or Percocet that are addictive in nature and should be used properly. Its usage should not exceed a week.

As you know prevention is better than cure. So minimize the chances of the occurrence of back pain by keeping yourself fit and taking healthy meals. Exercising regularly strengthen muscles and thus prevent injuries.
