Get that Million Dollar Smile with Teeth Whitening

Appearance matters a lot. If a simple cosmetic and dentistry procedure can bring out the brilliance in our smile, why not take the chance. As we grow old our teeth lose their shine and whiteness day by day. There are a lot of factors which lead to discoloration of the tooth, like for example, stains form when we consume chocolate, tea or coffee. Tobacco and bacterial deposit also leave ugly stains. But worry not, teeth whitening can surely give you a reason to smile.

There are three basic options offered by dentists do-it-yourself or tray based whitening systems, power teeth procedure and whitening the internal tooth.

Let’s take a look at them in detail.

1.    Do-It-yourself or Tray based Whitening Systems

Don’t be under the impression that one does undergo the whole procedure by themselves. First one has to go for a dentist’s consultation. After a thorough examination, the dentist will determine which process is the best suited for you. Then the impressions of the teeth are taken for making custom vinyl trays. The trays should perfectly fit the teeth so that the gel poured into them would cover the teeth well for effective results. The dentist will guide you how to use the vinyl tray. Then one can follow the same routine at home. Teeth whitening kits come with a detailed instruction manual.

2.    Power Teeth Procedure

This is a clinical treatment performed by the dentist. It’s a quick way to whiten the teeth. It also guarantees the shade of the teeth to get 10 shades brighter in just one sitting. This is apt for people who want fast results and don’t have time for tray based procedures which are messy and tedious.  The other part like gum, mouth and lips are covered during the treatment. After the application of the gel the denture is exposed to the lamp. The gel then forms hydrogen peroxide which whitens the tooth surface and also penetrates in to remove ugly stains.

3.    Internal Tooth Whitening

This procedure is only used for the front teeth when the discoloration is because of some injury or affected by root canal treatment. The condition of the teeth is determined by taking an X-ray. In this procedure a small hole is drilled into the tooth and then whitening gel is filled into it. Then the tooth is checked to see if more gel is required.. Once the gel does its job the hole is sealed using tooth color filling. This process usually requires more than one sitting.

There are other procedures besides these three, but are not that effective. These three procedures last for several years and also depend on how one takes care of their teeth. There can be minor side effects, like sensitivity and tickling sensation after the treatment but not significant.

So smile with confidence as teeth whitening has come to your rescue.
